JULES LELEU FRENCH ART DECO \"RICHELIEU\" SOFA
This lyre-shaped Art Deco sofa, by the famed Jules Leleu, is one of his most important pieces. It is rose-wood veneer on an oak frame. The back is slightly recessed, and the arm-rests are detached. Bronze detailing graces the front of the frame, and the sofa rests on four elegantly sculpted feet.
There were less than 5 of these sofas made by Leleu, according to Francoise Siriex, former collaborator of Leleu. The workmanship and design are extraordinary, and it is signed in ivory. Leleu often did not sign his pieces, and the fact that this sofa is signed in ivory indicates that it is a very special piece. It comes from an apartment in the exclusive 16th arrondisement in Paris, which was completely decorated by Leleu.
78 H x 215 W x 75 D cm.
From Primavera Gallery's extensive collection of fine Art Deco and Period furniture, including many pieces by Jules Leleu.
