DAVID LIBOR "BIRD" COFFEE TABLE IN WHITE MARBLE
David Libor was born in Brno, Czececheslovakia, but fled when Russia invaded, and, like many artists, his destination was Paris. Already known fro his sculpture back home, he soon became friendly with Niki de Saint- Phalle and other artists and sculptors in Paris.
The table is whimsical and humorous, yet elegant. It is a wonderful example of his work. It is carved from Naxos marble as a very abstract bird, with a black Belgian marble eye, and legs and feet in gilded wrought iron. There is a gentle indentation that holds two marble eggs. The piece is cleverly illuminated from underneath. It is a unique piece, signed, and dated 2010.David Libor, Paris
