ARCHIMEDE SEGUSO PURPLE AND WHITE MERLETTO VASE
Archimede Seguso was among the great 20th century glass makers working in Murano, Italy. He is especially known for his merletto pieces, in which threads of glass are precisely and intricately woven to resemble lace. This was a very difficult technique, and Seguso was the master, as evidenced by this piece, which uses both purple and white glass threads, making this vase especially rare and desirable. It was made c 1952.
