Carl Hirschberg (1854-1923) was a prominent figure in the American art movement who founded the Salmagundi Club and was also the organizers of the Student Arts League. As a young man he studied in Paris. This beautiful and lyrical painting depicts the Whippany River on one side and an anonymous landscape on the reverse of the canvas.
