LINOSSIER ART DECO VASE WITH SILVER TRIANGLES
Claudius Linossier was one of the great masters of French Art Deco metalwork. He worked in the difficult technique of dinanderie, in which the surfaces of hand raised copper vases were embellished with various metal oxide compounds hammered into the surface.
When the vase was heated, these produced beautiful colors. Some of the pieces were given more elaborate decoration, which required etching a motif into the surface, and hammering in the desired colorant. Linossier made all of these himself. You can read more about this in our Bio of Linossier.
Dinanderis was a very labor-intensive process, and there were very few people working with this technique. The pieces have beautiful forms and subtle surfaces, and are widely collected.
