Description
This is a quite well-known etching by Jean Dupas and Andre Maillart. The Rape of Europa, after the famous mythological tale, but it is odd that there are two people comfortably seated with panniers of flowers on either side – actually a quite idyllic image, and the bull looks quite tame. Artist’s Proof. Signed in pencil and dated 1931. Image is 29 x 22.5 in, not including framing.
